Costa Rica has become more than just a destination for us—it’s a home away from home. As a family, we’ve embraced the beauty of its landscapes, the warmth of its people, and the vibrant culture that fills every corner. Living in Puerto Viejo is truly a dream come true.
Adjusting to Pura Vida
The transition to living in Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica wasn’t without its challenges, but the rewards far outweigh them. From daily learning of the language to understanding the slower pace of life, we’ve found joy in simplicity. On the 3-acre property where we rent a small, yellow, tico-styled home with its abundant starfruit, guava, papaya, coconut and lime trees, is a haven of peace and inspiration for us.
A New Way of Life
My niece has flourished in this environment, balancing homeschooling with her love for surfing and volleyball. Her active lifestyle and curiosity make every outing a chance to learn something new. She has also met a friend here the same age who has the same likes and interests as her which makes living here so much more fun for her.
Titus, our ever-loyal chihuahua mix, keeps us on our toes. He is so ready to be a costa rican dog. If hes not chewing threw his backpack carrier to escape and run free with his new dog buddie, Sam, or dancing around with our next door neighbors 5 year old around the house while she listens to "la musica por ninos" on youtube, there is always an adventure with Titus, lol. Whether we’re traveling to nearby towns, or simply enjoying the beach, he’s there, reminding us to appreciate the small things.
Living abroad has also allowed me to build a business I’m passionate about, sharing skincare advice and creating content for followers interested in beauty, travel, and life abroad. This journey isn’t just about seeing new places; it’s about personal growth and building a life we love.
